France strikes in opposition to pension changes, industry, travel lag

France’s pension strikes are significant news on the world stage of late. As the French senate prepares to vote Wed on whether to increase the retirement age from 60 to 62, rioting and on strike flare up at a moment’s notice. A massive protest strike has ensued, which has disrupted industry and transportation, crippling production and making it very difficult for travelers to get to France. Transportation of basic resources for instance water and oil are among those hampered by the on strike.

Oil refineries not able to produce with slow travel also as France strikes

There is a great oil shortage in France, claims the Examiner, because all of the 12 French oil refineries were hit. Commercial truck drivers aren’t delivering gasoline, which has caused major runs on petrol at French gas stations. Gasoline sales are reportedly up 50 percent, and numerous stations have sold out.

Beyond the consumer effect, the France strikes and oil shortage have impacted air travel severely. All domestic and European flights with Air France are being cancelled or postponed. The Examiner reports that 30 percent of flights out of Charles de Gaulle and Beauvais airports are canceled, and half of Paris Orly flights are shut down. Unpredictable schedules lie ahead for EasyJet. The company has advised that customers continuously check out the updated information. British Airways has offered a comparable explanation, and has emphasized various re-booking possibilities. Ryanair.com has very easy refund info for Ryanair while giving the same explanation. All flights impacted by the strikes with France are also posted online with different resources for BMIBaby, Flybe, Air France and American Airlines.

Discover your airline carrier if you’re a tourist looking for what is going on. The Skyscanner service should be able to help.

France on strike make rail traveling stop as well

France has lots of issues. The airlines aren’t the only thing to worry about. Rail traveling with European carriers Eurostar, Thalys and Lyria also were impacted by the strikes. The France strikes have caused Artesia and Talgo to just stop services. That is what the Examiner explains. There is only a 20 to 40 percent capacity of rail travel with the French carriers TVG, CORAIL, TEOZ and TER. French National railway information is accessible. Just go to www.sncf.com to get it.
