Yankees World Series tix net Governor David Paterson big-time fine

NY experienced a bit of embarrassing governor troubles in recent years. First there was Eliot Spitzer and a call-girl scandal, now Governor Paterson is caught in another ethics web. Talk of Paterson’s drug use and mistrust have been mined as comedic fodder, and the New York State Commission on Public Integrity reports that Paterson’s perception of integrity now has him in trouble again. The slip of judgment will cost Paterson $ 62,125, which is around 30 times higher than what the five tickets would have cost. Post resource – New York Gov. David Paterson fined $62,125 for baseball tickets by MoneyBlogNewz.

Paterson with Yankees love

The New York commission explained that there was a game at the Yankee Stadium that had the Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies playing. In attendance was Gov. David Paterson, two aides, Paterson's son and his son's friend. Abusing power was something that obtained Paterson into trouble. He did not realize what kind of impact would be had. It was proven by testimony of Paterson's staff, the NY Yankees baseball club, and independent handwriting expert and other evidence was shown that David Paterson wasn't even working on it at all even though he claimed he had "always meant to pay for the passes," eventually.

Even if Governor Paterson had presented himself at the game in his official capacity, he wouldn’t have been entitled to free tickets. According to the Commission, "the Governor’s false testimony is … evidence that he knew his conduct was unlawful." There was a violation of several NY State Laws. This was what the Commission's estimate did.

Fines for Governor Paterson

The New York State Commission on Public Integrity levied a $62,125 penalty on embattled Gov. Paterson. That means he is getting fined $2,125 for the tickets, $25,000 for violating Public Officers Law §73(5)(a), $25,000 for "violating Public Officers Law §73(5)(b) and $10,000 for violating "Public Officers Law §74(3)(d). No other fees could possibly be applied legally as the Commission tried to fine under additional statutes.
