Grandma flippant as her 10 year old gives birth

A ten year gives birth in Spain, beginning controversy The birth occurred in Jelez de la Frontera, within the region of Andalusia, Spain. Despite being only ten years old, the new mother is resting and pleased, according to her mom, a brand new grandmother. Both the brand new grandma, Olimpia, and the new 10 year old mom, are Roma. Also called Gypsies, neither are Spanish citizens. Marriages and pregnancies that numerous cultures consider drastically, even criminally, young are not unusual at all among Roma.

Birth from a 10 year old

A story that started in Andalusia has gotten very popular. "10-year-old gives birth" is the name of the story. A baby girl was born in Roma, the Huffington Post reports. Jelez de la Frontera is the 10 year old who had the child. Olimpia is the mother of the girl. She is keeping a private identity for her daughter. The father is believed to be a 13-year-old male, whose name and whereabouts are unverified, but he is believed to be in Romania. He and also the new mom are no longer dating. Olimpia as a new grandmother says that as many within the Roma culture marry and give birth young, this isn't anything new. The marriages are often arranged, despite the fact both arranged and underage marriages are illegal in many countries.

Twice the age of record

A Peruvian girl is the record keeper as the youngest mother on record. In 1939, AOL News reports, Lina Medina gave birth at age 5. There is a phenomenon called precocious puberty, where kids start puberty early, often due to a hormone imbalance. If a girl with precocious puberty gets pregnant, the father is typically arrested. This is just the majority of the time. 13 is how old a minor has to be in Spain. Otherwise child abuse is what has happened. Andalusia has the highest rate of teen pregnancies, accounting for 48 of the 177 births by girls younger than 15 in Spain in 2008.

Different cultures, different customs

The very young age at which some are married is one of one of the most frequent criticisms of the Roma culture in Europe. The federal government expelled numerous of the Roma living in France recently.
